The Begining

26 Nov

It is the evening of the 1st day of OYAP’s Creative Leader’s training. Right now I am on Emma R’s sofa,  staying the night before our 2nd day tomorrow!

It was great to meet everybody today, I am excited to be finally meeting some like-minded people to share creative processes with, and look forward to getting to know everybody.  It was good to see that our interests span different genre’s -from graphic art to music to theatre -it’s always good to have a mixed bag!

We received an overview of what to expect, a description of the Arts Award, and did an ice breaker! We also worked collaboratively as a group, coming up with an arts project whilst using one of our ideas as a basis. I enjoyed working with the group and thought we worked together fairly, and presented our project equally. All in all, I felt things went as well as can be expected for day one, and we didn‘t eat all the biscuits! I particularly enjoyed hearing from Becca to get true insight on what to expect from the programme. She really highlighted the value of having a mentor, and gave some handy advice.

I’m rather looking forward to receiving support for my creative ways, and letting loose some creative schemes. (within reason!) I have had the sense of flogging a dead horse this past year, and being un-supported with a project that didn’t come of the ground… thus I can’t wait to learn from people who know what they are talking about, and can guide me!

Here it goes….
